SUMMARY

Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment tool, parts, supplies, and advertising, for organization by performing the following duties. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Opens and set-up accounts with new vendors.

 

Write up and review requisitions.  Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule.

 

Examines item values according to knowledge of market price.

 

Prepare purchase orders, purchase requests, quotes and bid request for approval by appropriate manager.

 

Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.

 

Obtains RMA numbers for returned materials, pack and properly label for shipping.

 

Maintains inventory of office supplies and some production supplies, reordering as necessary.

 

Receive all items that have been purchased.

 

Make copies of all packing slips or receipts for filing and mailing originals to accounting for processing.

 

Investigates and corrects all problems accounting my have with purchase orders, packing slips or receipts.

 

Make occasional pick-ups and deliveries.

 

Obtain MSDS sheets when necessary and forward them to appropriate personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
